Smash Burgers w/ Special Sauce & Oven Fries

With colder temperatures comes the end of grilling season, but that doesn’t mean burger nights also have to stop. A cast iron pan (and a good overhead vent) is all you’ll need to make the perfect indoor smash burger with crispy edges and a bright and smoky sauce.

Do you have to use beef? No. Is it the juiciest option? Yes. This would work with turkey or ground chicken but know that it will be much more dry. Adding a tablespoon or so of mayo to the meat, if using poultry, can help.

If you are vegetarian, you can make all of the fixings and swap the burger for a veggie version. We have a few in the archives that are popular but I wouldn't recommend trying to smash them, as they will fall apart.
