Aleppo is pepper flake, named after the Syrian city, which is now mostly sourced from Turkey and even the U.S., is a spice we suggest adding to your cabinet. The deep red flakes are milder than a chili flakes, but more complex and smokier.

You can buy Aleppo on Amazon, World Market or find it at your local grocer if they have a larger international section. If you still have no luck, sub in a bit of cayenne and paprika. A harissa spice blend works too! Shortcut? There is an aleppo honey marinade at Trader Joes.

We call for making a good amount of tahini drizzle. Because it works on everything. People who don’t like it or have an intolerance, use the same yield of cashew butter! If you are a fan of leftover slaw, double the yields below.
