This can be kid-friendly based on how much heat you use. I don’t want you to go buy more things to fill up your fridge, so any chili sort of paste is fine, and you’ll adjust to heat level. Sriracha, gochujang, sambal oelek, chili paste, any of the popular chili crisps… all fine here to add some heat.
If you are gluten free, most Hoisin’s and chili sauces contain wheat or a glutenous ingredient. I have found GF versions at Whole Foods or other specialty food markets next to where the Tamari and coconut aminos are.
