There is a restaurant near me that makes excellent sandwiches. They do a perfect burger, fried chicken, and a Bánh Mi sandwich that is simple yet satisfying. I believe they deep fry the tofu, but the tofu in the recipe is roasted to simplify things.

You can make your pickled vegetables a day or two in advance, to make quick work of assembly. Traditionally, there is no avocado, but I’ve always thought it fit. I stock up on Bachan’s Japanese Barbeque Sauce, which is everywhere now. Costco sells a large bottle, and any conventional grocery store should have it.

Don’t mind the bread I used for this photo. My “soft rolls” turned to “hard rolls” overnight and this was the best option for my last minute photo! I usually find fresh rolls near the supermarket’s deli section and they should be used day of.
