The crispy rice trend keeps popping up in my Instagram and then my lovely hair gal was talking about it so I decided to give it a try. I love texture! We always have leftover rice, and since crispy rice is best made with cooled, dry rice, this worked great. After some reading around, people like it in the air fryer - how pretty is this blue! I have white and don’t recommend it as it discolors.

This recipe uses chili crisp and while I’ve tried a few different brands, the one at Trader Joe’s is one of my favorites. Momofuku comes in second place and I greatly dislike the Fly by Jing one. I stock tamari because it is gluten-free and the taste is a bit milder than soy sauce, but either work great here.

Note this recipe is written for two! If everyone in your family will eat this, or you’d like leftovers, double it up!
