Think salsa heat but chili crisp sort of texture. We’ve been buying a version from our local farm stand and it’s smoky and spicy and rich with seeds. We like it on eggs or bowls that need a little punch or over roasted vegetables as seen in the Crispy Sweet Potatoes with Salsa Macha, Lime and Cilantro up this week.
Some of these dried chiles will be found at Mexican markets, an international section of a larger grocery store, or online if you’re thinking ahead and don’t want to search around town. The mixture will last in the fridge for a couple weeks!
