Have you had those candies that are mostly sesame seeds in some sort of sugar suspension? This cake tastes like those - a savory, toasty flavor but sweet. It’s a unique way to show off springy strawberries. They need to be fresh, and to sit in their pinch of salt and sugar for a moment so they start to get juicy.
If there is any sort of allergy to seeds or sesame, I would go with a different cake. It’s here in oil, tahini and seed form so it’s too many subs to bother.
